Jump/Start is a global, 12-week paid, quarterly program, open to students (not just advertising) and young creatives from any background, looking for their big break.

Anyone can have great creative ideas, but Jump/Start will teach you how to apply your creativity to real clients and real situations. If you're passionate, innovative and want to get ahead of the competition, then apply.

What is Jump/Start?

Jump/Start is a global program open to students from any background. Our goal is to maximize your exposure to live briefs, clients and the development of campaigns (from ideation to launch). On your first day, we will assign you to a team that best fits your skill set and interests. You will be able to connect with mentors, help with presentations and pitching to clients, and learn from people with a variety of skills. What you decide to take away depends, in part, on you.

Who is eligible for the Jump/Start program?

We are looking for current students or recent graduates. You can be majoring in any field or working in any industry. We truly believe that anyone can have a great idea.

How long is Jump/Start?

The program will last approximately 12 weeks. Please see the “Where” section of the website for specific dates and deadlines.

Are there employment opportunities at the end of the internship?

While we don’t guarantee full time employment for Jump/Start participants, we are always looking to retain great talent. Our goal is to help you build your portfolio with great work and expand your real-world experiences, in order to make you a competitive young creative in the industry.

In what cities is the program offered?

Currently, Jump/Start is only offered in New York City. We hope to extend to other J. Walter Thompson offices as the year progresses.

Can I apply for programs abroad?

We love and value diversity, but please only apply to offices where you are currently eligible to work. We are unable to sponsor visas for internships.

Is housing provided?

Housing is up to the applicant to arrange, but our local coordinators are more than happy to provide opinions on some of the best areas/websites to help you in your search.

What are you looking for in an ideal candidate?

You probably read the website, so you already know we want passionate, innovative and driven people, but other than that the scope is wide open. A tip for applying – surprise us! Show us who you are, let your personality out, but do it in a way that is unique to you. We honestly want you to have fun with this… hence the very liberal application guidelines!
